There came a point when I stopped trusting everything I found on the shelves.

Not because I set out to make everything myself. But because my own health journey had taught me to start asking more questions.

Questions about what we eat. What we put on our bodies. What’s actually in the products we use every single day. And whether all of those ingredients are really necessary in the first place.

Over time, I came to a pretty simple conclusion:

If I couldn’t find what I wanted, I would learn how to make it myself.

And that’s really where Firefly began.

Not as a business.
Not with a product line or a brand name.

It began in my own home, making things for my own family.

I was already making many of the products we used when a particularly harsh Colorado winter pushed me to try something different.

My hands were painfully dry and cracked. The skin around my fingernails was splitting. My feet were struggling, and my lips were constantly peeling. Nothing I was using seemed to be enough.

So I went back to something much simpler.

Tallow.

A traditional fat that had been used in soaps and skin preparations for generations, naturally rich in fatty acids and remarkably versatile when formulated well.

I started experimenting.

I made a rich hand + foot balm. Then lip balm. Then tallow soap.

And within that first week, I noticed a difference.

My skin felt softer. The cracking began to improve. My lips finally felt comfortable again. The simple products I had made in my own kitchen were doing exactly what I had hoped they would do.

That was the moment something shifted.

Every Firefly product is handcrafted in small batches using ingredients I personally feel good about using in my own home.

Grass-fed tallow from regeneratively raised cattle—slow-rendered by us from the beginning—is at the heart of what we make, alongside simple ingredients like olive oil, coconut oil, castor oil, jojoba oil and beeswax.

Our herbs and botanicals are chosen with purpose. Our scents come from essential oils. Our colors come from the ingredients themselves and thoughtfully selected natural colorants.

We don't start with premade bases. We don't use synthetic fragrance simply because it's easier. And we don't add ingredients just to make a label sound impressive.

We make it differently because we still believe how things are made matters.

A firefly doesn't need anything artificial to make it shine.

Its light comes naturally from within—quiet, unmistakable and beautifully simple.

That felt like the perfect reminder of what I wanted this company to represent.

A return to simpler ingredients.
Traditional methods.
Things made slowly and intentionally.
And products you can turn over, read the label and actually understand.

Simple things can still be powerful.
