In a world overflowing with complicated skincare, Firefly is a return to something simpler.
We make our tallow soap by hand in small batches using traditional oils, our own slow-rendered grass-fed tallow, real botanicals and essential oils for scent. Our colors come from nature too - herb-infused oils, botanicals, clays and ingredients like activated charcoal rather than synthetic dyes or micas.
No mile-long ingredient lists. No artificial fragrance. No unnecessary extras.
Just thoughtfully chosen ingredients, old-fashioned craftsmanship and soap made the way we believe skincare should be: simple, hardworking and naturally good.
The Heart of Firefly
It Starts With Tallow
Tallow isn’t simply another ingredient in our products. It’s where Firefly began.
We source beef suet from grass-fed, regeneratively raised cattle and slowly render it ourselves in small batches. That means we aren't purchasing a commercially prepared cosmetic tallow and adding it to our products - we know where ours came from and how it was made.
Tallow is naturally rich in fatty acids including stearic, palmitic and oleic acids. It gives our soaps their creamy character and forms the nourishing foundation of our balms.
We know what’s in our tallow because we make it.

Why These Five?
Across the Firefly collection, you'll see the same foundational ingredients appear again and again: tallow, olive oil, coconut oil, castor oil and jojoba.
Not every product contains all four, and they don't perform exactly the same job in every formula. That's the point. In soap and shampoo bars, they work together to influence things like cleansing, lather, hardness and conditioning. In our balms, carefully selected oils complement tallow to create the texture, glide and skin feel we're after. Most importantly, all with a purpose to intentionally benefit your skin and hair health without compromise.
Four simple ingredients. A whole lot they can do.
Rich in naturally occurring fatty acids, tallow gives our products their substantial, creamy character. It helps create hard, long-lasting soap bars and deeply nourishing, protective balms.
Helps condition and soften dry skin while contributing to a creamy, conditioning feel in hair and scalp formulas.
Naturally rich in oleic acid, olive oil brings softness and conditioning to our formulas. In soap, it helps balance cleansing. In leave-on products, it provides a simple plant-based oil with a rich skin feel.
Helps leave skin feeling soft and conditioned while bringing gentle moisture and softness to the hair.
In our soaps, coconut oil contributes cleansing power, firmness and those big, satisfying bubbles. Used thoughtfully alongside our other oils, it helps create a bar that actually performs.
Provides effective cleansing that helps wash away buildup, excess oil and everyday grime from both skin and hair.
Castor oil has a unique fatty-acid profile and brings something different to a formula. It's especially valuable in our cleansing bars, where it contributes to rich, stable lather and conditioning.
Adds conditioning while helping create the rich, creamy lather that makes cleansing skin and hair feel so satisfying.
Jojoba is technically a liquid wax with a unique composition that closely resembles the skin’s natural sebum. It brings lightweight conditioning and beautiful spreadability to our formulas without an overly greasy feel.
In balms and lip care, it helps soften the richness of tallow and creates that smooth, silky glide.
FROM THE GARDEN + EARTH

Some of our ingredients look a lot more like something you’d find in a garden, pantry or old-fashioned apothecary than a skincare laboratory.
We use herbs, flowers, roots and a small number of naturally derived powders to bring color, character and purpose to our formulas. We don’t add an ingredient simply because it sounds impressive on a label. If it’s there, it has a reason.
HERBS + LEAVES
Rosemary • Nettle • Sage
Earthy, traditional herbs chosen for the formulas where they make sense - often infused directly into our oils rather than simply added as powders.
FLOWERS + BOTANICALS
Calendula • Chamomile • Lavender • Rose
Flowers we use for their botanical character, natural beauty and long history of use in traditional skincare. Depending on the formula, they may be slowly infused into oil or used in their dried form.
ROOTS + NATURAL COLOR
Alkanet • Annatto + other plant-derived colorants
Instead of relying on synthetic dyes and micas, we turn to plants when we want to give select products their natural, earthy color. The result is intentionally less uniform - and that's part of handmade skincare.
EARTH + PLANT POWDERS
Activated Charcoal • Spirulina
A select few powders earn a place in our formulas, including activated charcoal for its naturally deep black color and spirulina for its rich botanical green. We use them intentionally - not simply to make an ingredient list longer.
No rainbow of synthetic colorants. No botanicals added just for show. Just thoughtfully chosen ingredients that belong in the formula.
Real Scent Comes From Real Things
Essential Oils
When a Firefly product smells like orange, cedar, fir, lavender or rosemary, that's because those ingredients are actually there.
We use essential oils to create intentionally simple scent combinations inspired by the outdoors - citrus, herbs, florals, woods and evergreens.
No synthetic fragrance oils.
No perfume hiding behind the word “fragrance.”
No need for a scent to smell like something it isn't.
And because not everyone wants scented skincare, you'll find unscented options in the collection too.
Naturally Protective From the Hive
Beeswax
Beeswax plays a simple but important role in our balms and lip care. It gives our formulas structure while creating a light protective layer on the skin that helps hold in moisture - especially helpful for dry lips, hands, heels and other hardworking areas.
It also allows us to create that smooth, substantial balm texture without relying on synthetic thickeners or stabilizers.
Whenever possible, we source our beeswax locally from our farmer who cares deeply about healthy bees and the hives that produce it.

Simple formulas mean there simply isn't room for a lot of the things commonly found in conventional personal care products.
No synthetic fragrance
Our scented products get their aroma from essential oils and botanicals.

The colors you see come from the ingredients themselves, infused botanicals and natural additions such as activated charcoal.
No unnecessary fillers
An ingredient doesn't make the label simply because it's trendy or makes the formula sound more impressive.
No mystery ingredients
We want you to be able to turn over a Firefly product, read the label and understand what you're putting on your body.
