Made From the Beginning
Our process starts long before this balm reaches the jar.
Grass-Fed Tallow — We begin with carefully sourced beef fat from grass-fed cattle raised on regenerative farms.
Rendered In-House — We slowly render and purify our own tallow in small batches rather than buying commercially prepared cosmetic tallow.
We Know What’s In It — Taking ownership of the process from the beginning gives us control over the ingredient at the heart of Firefly.
We know what’s in our tallow because we make it.
THE STORY BEHIND FIREFLY
Where It All Began
Long before I planned to create a skincare company, I made this balm for myself.
One Colorado winter, the skin on my hands and feet became so dry it was cracking—including the skin around my fingernails. I needed something more than the lotions and moisturizers I had been using, so I made my own rich tallow balm.
I started applying it before bed, concentrating on the driest areas and wearing cotton socks overnight.
Within the first week, I could see a noticeable difference in my skin.
So, naturally, I started talking about it.
I shared what I had made and what I was experiencing, and before long, other people started asking if I would make some for them. Then came the messages and reviews from people who loved what it was doing for their own dry skin.
What started as a solution I made for myself became something other people wanted, too.
That experience changed the way I thought about personal care. I began making more of my own tallow-based products, refining my formulas along the way—and eventually, Firefly Skincare was born.
Today, this balm is still made with our own slow-rendered, grass-fed tallow sourced from cattle raised on regenerative farms, along with jojoba and coconut oils.
It's concentrated, water-free, and made for hands, feet, heels, cuticles, and those stubborn dry areas that need a little more.
